The film is set along the foreboding journey from Altar, Mexico through the deserts of southern Arizona. Dead Weight (2009, dir. Yemane Demissie, 110 min.) screened at the Black Film Media Film Festival in London on Tuesday, November 10th. This feature (co-scored with Lauren Cregor while we studied with Ira Newborn at NYU) was also written up in the UK’s Guardian film blog.
