Evening of Documentary Film

Two films scored by Andrew Barkan and Polly Hall (HOLD MY HAND and THE MODERN MAN) will be screened in conjunction with a few other documentary shorts as part of COMMUNITY VOICES this Thursday evening at Chapman University’s Dodge Hall starting at 7:00p. Open to the public, Q&A and reception to follow.

Crazy Glue nominated for Student Academy Award

Crazy Glue (2011, dir. Elizabeth Orne) was nominated for a Student Academy Award and has advanced to the semi-final round in part (because it’s one of the seven categories on which it is judged) due to original score.

Samples from the soundtrack will be available shortly — meanwhile, cross your fingers for this wonderful piece!

Gnocchi wins Memphis, Filmstock, iPad release in works

THE BROKEN HEART OF GNOCCHI BOLOGNESE (2008, directed by the incomparable Katherine Vondy) had five wins in April, including Best Student Film at the Memphis International Film Festival and both Best of Fest and the Audience Award at the Filmstock Film FestivalGNOCCHI continues to screen domestically and internationally, and may have an iPad release in it’s bright future before too long.  Congrats to Kat and the entire crew on the recognition this magical little film deserves.

Springtime at Biltmore


A lovely ad I got to score for the Biltmore in North Carolina, largest single-family home in country with some incredible gardens. Featuring Jeff Katz (Broadway’s Lion King) on trumpet, Polly Hall (Santa Monica’s Gardening Queen) on violins, and yours truly on those fun, old-timey notes.
